The Midjourney Puppet Method (+Template)
How to take your character and put them in a different scene
Midjourney is the best AI image software right now and their latest update was absolutely insane
Look at the improvements over the different updates. This tech is insane.
Well, today we’re going to test the puppet method, which will helpfully allow us to take a character that we create, and move it to a new scene, and match the details as closely as possible.
Example First
We took this image straight from lexica.art, which shows the stable diffusion prompt used to create this image.
And used the following prompt to get walt in a different scene based on this reference image
And it took that reference image and created these images based on the input.
So how does this work
Reference Images
Midjourney is still using their discord as the method to generate imagess. Their discord link is here[Discord Link] to learn more about getting set up.
When you want to create an image based on another image you paste the link to image, add a space, and type what you want that image to look like.
A skillful person named Clarinet came up with the puppet method. It is essentially a template for the text portion of the prompt that allows for people to transport their character into new scenes.
You include these in order in the text portion of the prompt
Setting is place
Name is description
Setting Contains Name doing activity
Other Details
Version and Aspect Ratio
Here is the template for the Puppet Method
http://www.host.com/ReferenceImage.jpg Setting is place:: Name is description:: Setting contains Name doing activity:: atmosphere, filler details, media type, artists --v N --aspect X:Y
Here is an example of entering a puppet method prompt
https://as2.ftcdn.net/pFtKgQ.jpg Setting is an empty midnight forest clearing:: Amit is a middle-aged Indian man with short black hair:: Setting contains a frightened Amit wearing pajamas pointing a flashlight into the trees:: ominous rainstorm atmosphere, fairy forest details, photography by Anton Pieck, Frida Kahlo, Beatrix Potter, Gediminas Pranckevicius, Robert Rauschenberg --v 3 --ar 2:3

this is great! Someone in a community suggested your post and I am finding this pretty interesting. Do you have any tips for the puppet? e.g. I'm guessing the puppet should be less detailed than a vivid scene? for example, if i wanna make many photos for a storybook with my spouse and me, I'm guessing I should find a very simple photo of ours to use as puppet?
Where do you get the appropriate link for the puppet? The discord link doesnt work.
